My journey started on the 27th of september 2008. At first i wasn't sure it was a good idea to be going to foreign country for my raya holidays but since it gave me and extra week of vacation(vacation time allocated originally was only a week) so i think its a good bargain. The things playing into my mind was how is the country going to be like? how is the community over there? is it going to be totally different from the raya celebrations in malaysia? what does the country have to offer me during my visits? this is all the question playing in my mind during the final hours before i board my plane from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Sydney International Airport. As i board the plane i take one last look of malaysian and say farewell and i'm off to australia. The 8 hours of flight seems like forever for i'm quite anxious to reach australia. Most of the time during my flight i spent it with watching movie or listening to songs before my eyes finally gave up and i went to sleep. "We are descending, please put your seat in the upright position and buckle your seatbelts", this was the exact words i heard as i woke up from what seems to be a very comfortable sleep. I took a peek outside my window and i saw the vast land of australia. Everything seems so foreign and so new. Its like i saw the world for the first time. I was amaze by the wonderful scenery of the ocean which seem much more bluer and brighter than Malaysia. i can't seem to keep my eyes from the window. I felt that if i took my eyes of the scenery i might not see it again. The sun was shinning brightly on the land that the fields looks golden. Exactly 7.35 am australian time, Flight MH 123 land and dock at Sydney International airport. I quickly rushed to pick my bags from my overhead compartment and hurriedly exited the plane. After customs check and my baggage claim, i exited the from the arrival hall and i saw for the first time since 8 months ago the face of my mother,father and of course my little brother shabil.
I hugged my parents.. and i never done that before but it felt so good.. how i had missed them so much. Most of my life i've been living apart from them but now i felt so good to be around my family again. After the reunion and brief chattering, my journey continues and i took me towards the place where i will spend most of my time which is in Canberra, New South Wales.. the drive took two hours however i did not feel any boredom nor feeling nauseous due to spending time in the car. For me the journey was really great because all the way to canberra i got to see the beautiful scenery of australia from up close. The trees, the grass, the flowers are all different from where i came from. I was amaze and mesmerize by the beauty of the land. Imaginations starts playing around on how wonderful it would be if i could stay here and grew up in the country. All the question that played on my mind no longer bothered me. I could not believe i almost missed my chance to visit the country. The air was dry but cold. The sun shines proudly but its not hot. As the glare continue to shine in the sunglasses i was wearing, i realize that i had reach the countryside of australia. i was heading to my mother's place in queanbeyan. The house is located on Donald Road. By this time on i knew i was going to have a good time and i won't let anything ruined the vacation for me.. Not ever. I am going to enjoy this vacation very much =)
just coming out from the arrival hallAs i reach home, everybody took some rest from the journey but i won't let myself to rest. I felt its a waste to be sleeping when i can spend my time seeing more of the country. Evening approaches quickly in this foreign land and its almost to break my fast. Yes i was fasting during the journey from malaysia to sydney then to canberra. Since my mom didn't cook anything, we head out for out fastbreaking. We when to this shop call the Ali baba where they mainly serve dishes called K'bab or in malaysia called Kebab. My father ordered for the food to be take away and we all head back home and broke out fast.
For the first time in my life i felt so cold that my ears was turning blue. The night was very cold. I was shivering violently before my dad hands me a really thick sweater for me to put on. the night went by quickly. i had some son to mother talk before i was off to sleep. Before i closed my eyes i was imagining was tomorrow is going to be like and what new experience i would gain and with that thought i went to sleep...
